Artists: Tammy Pilon and Dumitry Barliga
Date: Fall 1997
Location: Whyte Avenue at Shaughnessy Street [map]
Dimensions: 12′ w x 8′ h
Information: In the 1910s merchants such as the local blacksmith and the general store owner had the first businesses in what was then known as the Kingsway Business area. The farming community made up a huge majority of the merchants selling dairy and produce at farmers’ markets. Prizes were given to the farmer who grew the largest cabbage and pumpkin. This mural, which depicts that history, was painted in studio and mounted in 1997.
